This is Canada. And this is what Canadian Woodpeckers Do.

This is a tree that’s been decimated by a Piliated woodpecker. I didn’t believe that Canada was home to giant, albatross-sized woodpeckers who can make holes in trees that are large enough for bears to hibernate in, but they do.

This place is so brilliantly unfamiliar, in every way possible.

More Canadian adventures coming soon. Because I’m in Canada. Love.
