SPRING UPDATE
Dear Audio-Reader listeners,
It’s hard to believe that spring is already here! The
weather may have not quite committed to the idea just
yet, but at Audio-Reader, we are ready to welcome the
new season with lots of audio description events, new
books, programs and activities over the coming months.
Among the new books we are offering this spring is a
special production ofBicycling with Butterfliesby Sara
Dykman, which was produced in partnership with audio
services from across the country and features bonus
material, interviews and more. Look for that on the
broadcast and Telephone Reader in June.
For listeners in the Lawrence and Kansas City area, we
are excited to offer new audio description events and
fun ways to engage with us in person while enjoying
accessible theatre and live performances.
In mid-April, we recognize our volunteers for the
hundreds of hours they give each year. If you would like
to leave a voicemail to say thanks, you can call (785)
864-4758. They would love to hear from you!

NEW! SCREEN-READER FRIENDLY
AUDIO-READER PROGRAM WEBSITE
We are excited to announce that Audio-Reader has a
new text-based website designed especially for low-
vision users and computer screen readers.
Audioreader.net is your place to explore our
programming, listen to online streams and our web
archive, and learn more about our programming without
the additional website information, images, text or
design that exists on our main website.
The page is designed to be simple and clean, with
minimal information so that users of screen-reading
apps like JAWS can get to the info quickly and simply.
On AudioReader.net you can:
Listen to the Live Stream
Browse the Digital Archive
Explore the complete Program Guide
Go through the Daily Schedule
We hope this dedicated webpage will be a useful place
to access information and enjoy our programming
directly.
If you have questions or feedback about the new
webpage, contact Martha on (785) 864-2900 or

JOIN US FOR AN ADVENTURE THIS JUNE
WITH “BICYCLING WITH BUTTERFLIES”
Sara Dykman made history when she became the first
person to bicycle alongside monarch butterflies on their
storied annual migrationa round-trip adventure that
included three countries and more than 10,000 miles.
Equally remarkable, she did it solo, on a bike cobbled
together from used parts. Her book Bicycling with
Butterflies: My 10,201-Mile Journey Following the
Monarch Migrationtells the fascinating story.
To celebrate Butterfly Awareness Month in June 2024,
we are airing a special reading of Bicycling with
Butterflies.” This is a collaboration of audio information
services from across the country, with each chapter
presented by a partner reading service, from Texas to
Massachusetts, as we follow along with Sara’s journey
and the route of the butterfly migration.
Bicycling with Butterflies: My 10,201-Mile
Journey Following the Monarch Migration by
Sara Dykman is the Telephone Reader Book of
the Month for June 2024
Hear it in the Non-fiction Book Hour on Audio-
Reader’s broadcast starting Friday, June 14th at
7pm, or on-demand on our web archive,
Telephone Reader, and Amazon Alexa skill.
