Adjunct Faculty-Assistant Professor (Spring 2019-ongoing)
University of North Texas Health Sciences Center (UNTHSC) Seniors Assisting in Geriatrics
Education (SAGE). This is an extended education program with TCU and UNT Health Sciences
Center. As adjunct faculty, I am able to see the students visits with their older adult mentor,
grade all submitted work to ensure it meets guidelines and to ensure participation from all
students. Through SAGE, the students are able to gain early exposure to the older adult
population. The students are a part of an interdisciplinary teams, which includes nursing,
physician assistants, physical therapy, pharmacy, social work, and dietetics. Not only are the
students able to gain early exposure to the older adult population, but they are also a part of a
diverse team. The students are then graded on different assignments based on their visits with
the older adult. Some of those assignments include but not limited to blood pressure checks,
physical exam, nutritional assessment, home safety assessment, cognitive assessment, and
medical overview.
