If Third Party Authorization is given, it
only applies to the Merchant Mariner
Credential (MMC). A separate
authorization is required for a Medical
Certificate.
(6) Third Party Authorization
: A third party is any
person or company you approve to discuss your
application with the NMC. You can limit what a third
party can do, or you can authorize the third party to act
on all matters related to your application. Designating a
third party is entirely optional.

Post-Dating: Post-dating only applies to renewal only applications. If you apply for a
renewal only and DO NOT check the box (2) on the application, you will be issued a post-
dated MMC (up to 8 months out).
E.g., if your renewal MMC is ready to be printed on 06/01/18, and you DID NOT check the
box (2), and your current MMC does not expire until 08/01/2018, your new MMC will be
printed with validity dates of 08/02/2018 through 08/02/2023.

(b) National rating endorsements. If applying for a rating endorsement, at least one of the CG 719B Section II Qualified Rating boxes must be selected
and the Description of Endorsement(s) Desired box must include the at least one of the following national rating endorsements as established in 46 CFR
parts 12 & 13:

(c) Entry-level mariner means a mariner holding no rating other than ordinary seaman, wiper, steward's department, or steward's department food
handler (F.H.). If applying for an entry-level endorsement, at least one of the CG 719B Section II Entry Level boxes must be selected and the
Description of Endorsement(s) Desired box must include the at least one of the following entry level endorsements:
(1) Ordinary seaman.
(2) Wiper.
(3) Steward's department.
