Undergraduate Application Process
STEP ONE
Create a MyPennState
profile/account and submit
the online application.
Take note of your
MyPennState username
and password so you can
log back into MyPennState
to check on the status of
your application.
You’ll need to self-report
your high school course
work directly within the
online application or
through the Self-Reported
Academic Record (SRAR).
It’s helpful to have a copy
of your transcript on hand
when completing
the application.
STEP TWO
Request official transcripts
to be sent from each
of the schools you
previously attended.
Official transcripts are
needed from high
school/GED (if applicable)
for each college or
university attended,
regardless of length of
time elapsed or credits
earned, and military
transcripts, SAT/ACT, or
TOEFL/IELTS scores
may be required.
STEP THREE
Once we have your
application and transcripts,
your application is
reviewed to determine
if you meet the admissions
criteria for your program
of interest.
The review process takes
time while we evaluate
your application,
academic history, and
transfer credits. Some
programs have additional
requirements that are
reviewed at this stage.
STEP FOUR
Hang in there! We’ll
let you know when we
have reached an
admission decision.
Remember, checking
MyPennState is always the
best way to determine the
status of your application.
STEP FIVE
If you receive an offer,
you can accept it in
MyPennState.
After accepting your
offer, you’ll gain access to
additional Penn State
student systems, with the
same login you created
when you applied for
admission. This login
is your Penn State
Access Account.
STEP SIX
Watch for communications
about advising, financial
aid, orientation, and more.
You’ll be notified when
you receive a Penn State
email account and will
need to check that
account going forward.
If you’re transferring in
credits, be prepared to
request past course syllabi
and descriptions from
academic institutions that
you’ve previously
attended so that Penn
State faculty can evaluate
how past courses align
with current curricula.
